Site Supervisor

Job role

To supervise works of a construction project to ensure compliance with Safety Legislation and company procedures, delivering quality workmanship within the project budget.

Key responsibilities

BACKGROUND

  • Preferable experience from a trade background in Masonry or Joinery with Supervisory experience.

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE
Requires a general knowledge of the following:

  • Substructure/Groundworks/Drainage
  • Concrete/Formwork
  • Brickwork/Building Envelope
  • Structural Steelwork
  • Joinery/Carpentry
  • Finishing Trades
  • Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing Installations
  • Roads
  • Hard & Soft Landscaping

Planning

  • Prepare weekly labour and plant programmes
  • Understanding of subcontractors workscope and interfacing of operations

Statutory Controls

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations

Safety

  • Complete/agree all weekly checklists
  • CITB SSSTS Certification and/or CSCS Supervisory

MANAGEMENT
Labour

  • Recognise and agree the need for the number of resources with the Site Contracts Manager
  • Ensure formal induction procedures are carried out on all employees, subcontractors and plant operatives
  • Monitor and manage performance of all hourly paid employees/subcontractors
  • Organise labour force to carry out the work as per the 6-week programme

Plant

  • Arrange the hiring and off hiring of all plant internal or external and maintain full records

Staff

  • Assist with the recruitment of Trades & Labour

Record

  • Complete allocation sheets, diary and those other records requested by the Client, QS or Site Manager for all activities including subcontractors

Subcontractors

  • Ensure that they fully understand and comply with their agreed Method Statement
  • Maintain a good relationship with all subcontractors whilst ensuring that their work is carried out to the client’s and Douglas & Stewart Construction satisfaction

QUALITY

  • Understand and comply with the Quality System
  • Identify, produce and recognise the quality acceptable on the project
